Tata Motors’ overall September sales down 4 percent, LCV sales up 19 percent

Tata Motors’ overall September sales down 4 percent, LCV sales up 19 percent

October 1, 2012: Tata Motors’ total sales (including exports) of commercial and passenger vehicles in September 2012 were 75,773 vehicles, lower by 4 percent over September 2011. Domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for the month were 70,332 units, down by 3 percent over 72,566 units, sold in September 2011.

The company’s sales of commercial vehicles in September in the domestic market were 48,680 units, a five percent growth, compared to 46,247 vehicles sold in September last year. LCV sales were 33,393 units, up 19 percent compared to 28,092 vehicles sold in September last year. M&HCV sales stood at 15,287 units, lower by 16 percent, compared to 18,155 vehicles sold in September last year. Tata Motors recently launched the LX range of its Prima range in September at a more affordable price.

Sales of passenger vehicles during the month were 21,652 units, lower by 18 percent, over 26,319 units sold in September last year. Nano sales at 5,491 units were up 87 percent, compared to 2,936 units sold in September last year. The Indica and Vista sold 7,936 units, lower by 23 percent over 10,282 units sold in September 2011. The Indigo and Manza range recorded sales of 3,706 units, down 52 percent over the 7,793 units sold in September last year. Tata exported 5,441 vehicles in September 2012, down 12 percent compared to 6,217 vehicles in September last year. The company has recently launched the Manza in South Africa.
