Tata Motors’ car sales down 22 percent, LCV sales up 22 percent, in June

Mumbai, July 2, 2012: Tata Motors’ passenger car sales for June 2012 were 17,244 units, lower by 22 percent over 21,994 units sold in June last year. The Nano sold 5,605 units, three percent up compared to 5,452 units sold in June last year. Over the last three months, sales of the Nano have averaged about 8,000 units, so June sales could well be a reflection of the impact of higher petrol prices.

The Indica and Vista range sales were 5,332 units, down 35 percent over 8,188 units sold in June last year. The Indigo and Manza range sales of 2,658 units were lower by 46 percent over 4,882 units sold in June 2011. The Sumo/ Safari/ Aria/ Venture range sales were 3,649 units, higher by 5 percent over 3,472 units sold in June 2011.

In the commercial vehicle segment, sales were 41,026 units, up four percent compared to 39,272 vehicles, sold in June last year. LCV sales were 28,363 units, a growth of 22 percent compared to 23,198 vehicles sold in June, last year. M&HCV sales stood at 12,663 units, down 21 percent compared to 16,074 vehicles sold in June, last year.

Tata Motors’ total sales (including exports) of CVs and passenger vehicles in June 2012 were 64,341 vehicles, lower by three percent over June 2011. Domestic sales for both segments for June 2012 were 58,270 units, down five percent over 61,266 units sold in June last year.
