Japanese electronics major Sony India will introduce its 3D sound technology for the first-time in India in Mahindra & Mahindra’s soon-to-be-revealed flagshipSUV, the XUV700.

This, the electronics company says, will be India’s first vehicle with its inbuilt sound system that will be powered by Sound Building Blocks, one of Sony’s 360 Spatial Sound Technology, which offers a immersive audio experience.

The Mahindra XUV700 will mark the beginning of the next-generation of authentic Mahindra SUVs which will offer several first-in-segment technologies and features including AI-based connectivity.

The technology is designed and engineered by Sony’s expert sound engineers, the in-built 3D sound system is custom-made with finest sound tuning, specifically for the XUV700, and provides an immersive 3D audio experience through its (powerful or 445W) 13 channel DSP amplifier, 12 custom-designed speakers including subwoofer and the Sound Building Blocks technology.

Sony says each component in the 3D sound system has been precisely engineered for optimum performance, thereby ensuring unique cabin acoustics for the XUV700. The Sound Building Blocks technology enables –

  • A highly realistic 3D immersive spatial sound field from the stereo music source inside the XUV700
  • Robust audio listening sweet spot that encompasses all the passengers inside the XUV700 cabin
  • All stereo sources, be it radio, online streaming, USB or mobile phone to be enjoyed in 3D
  • Multiple unique sound settings available to customise the audio listening experience based on the passengers

Sunil Nayyar, MD, Sony India said: "This is a proud moment for Sony India as we are entering into a partnership in the automobile sector in India for the very first time and couldn’t have chosen a better partner than the prestigious, home-grown company Mahindra. Sony has a robust foundation in innovation in the technology sector, and this collaboration will see us take our 3D spatial sound to consumers with an immersive next-generation audio experience wherever he travels.”
