The benchmark global event, to be held from September 29-October 1, serves as a forum for exchange of ideas and brainstorming for all stakeholders of the automotive industry, with participation of eminent experts worldwide in various automotive areas.

The 17th edition, which is organised by ARAI, in association with SAE India and SAE International (USA) is being held virtually this year in view of the need for social distancing and pandemic-related protocol. Previously, all earlier SIATs were held physically at the sprawling ARAI campus in Pune.

In a recent interview with Autocar Professional, Dr Reji Mathai, ARAI, said: “I am quite happy to say that we really have got a good response to SIAT. Initially, we were somewhat apprehensive about a complete virtual conference but we are almost full with the papers. There is also a virtual expo being held concurrently.:

Theme: ‘Redefining Mobility for the Future’
The central theme of SIAT 2021 is ‘Redefining Mobility for the Future’, which will see Indian and global experts debate and discuss the latest industry trends and futuristic mobility challenges.

Apart from the symposium proceedings, a Technical Reference Bulletin containing technical articles, case studies and product information will be published digitally. Also, SIAT Expo 2021, which will be held concurrently, will be a platform for a wide range of companies to showcase their products, technologies, innovations and services through various virtual stalls. Autocar Professional is the media partner for the event.

SIAT will be inaugurated by Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey, Minister of Heavy Industries, Government of India while Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport & Highways, will deliver the valedictory speech on October 1.
