April 26: SGS India is to host a five-day training programme as per ISO 26262 for functional safety in New Delhi on June 4-8, 2012 with the assistance of experts within the SGS Group from SGS-TUV Saar, Germany. The event will help attendees understand the various safety processes as well as legal responsibilities and what is involved to achieve compliance.
Adapted from IEC 61508, the ISO 26262 standard defines functional safety for automotive equipment applicable throughout the lifecycle of all automotive electronic and electrical safety-related systems. Functional safety features form an integral part of each product development phase, ranging from the specification, to design, implementation, integration, verification, validation, and production release.
The structure of the training is divided into separate modules that focus in turn on safety management and processes, development of a risk analysis to a functional safety concept, system development incorporating technical safety concepts, hardware and software development with regard to safety features, and a methodical approach to analytics for safety analysis.
SGS is the world's leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company. With 70,000 employees, it operates a network of over 1,350 offices and laboratories around the world.
Registration for the training programme is available at the SGS' Functional Safety Training website www.sgs.com/automotive
