Bangalore, November 22, 2012: Swedish commercial vehicle major Scania is likely to appoint Navnit Motors, one of the country’s top luxury motoring retailers, as its dealer to retail on-road trucks in Gujarat and Pune.
Talking to Autocar Professional on the sidelines of the Scania on-road truck launch event in Bangalore earlier this month, Vijay Kachalia, director of the Navnit Group, said: “We are the first dealers for Scania in India. We have been appointed by the company to distribute their trucks in Maharashtra.”
When the company is expanding its dealerships, he said, “Our priority is going to be for Gujarat and Goa. Already Scania is associated with us with clear understanding. First right of refusal (for dealership in Gujarat and Goa) is going to be with us.”
Scania has launched four models of trucks, two each in the puller and prime mover segments in the first week of this month (pictured). The CV player has decided to sell its trucks in the market through the dealership network.
Currently, Navnit is the only dealer for Scania in India, distributing its vehicles in Maharashtra. Scania is in the process of identifying dealers for other regions in the country.
Navnit Motors manages a host of vehicle brands (Rolls-Royce, BMW, Land Rover, Maruti Suzuki, JCB and Polaris) across five cities including Ahmedabad in India. Apart from luxury cars, the company also has experience in selling CVs as it has in the past marketed Eicher, Volvo and MAN trucks.
