November 7, 2013: According to three Pune-based Royal Enfield dealerships, the retro-looking Continental GT motorcycle will make it to retail outlets as early as November end.
“While the upcoming bike is already generating substantial excitement among the bullet-crazy riders, we are anxiously waiting for the bikes to reach our showrooms at the earliest, which is by November-end,” a dealer told Autocar Professional on the condition of anonymity.
Another local dealer added that “we are receiving plentiful queries on the new model everyday which makes us believe that the upcoming model is likely to see fairly good booking numbers as soon as it makes its way in the retail showrooms.”
Royal Enfield has already said that it will launch and announce the bike’s pricing on November 26.
Mated with a five-speed gearbox, the 535cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine of this stylish Royal Enfield motorcycle develops maximum power of 29.1bhp at 5100rpm and peak torque of 4.48kgm at 4000rpm. Positioned as the sportiest Royal Enfield made so far, the company has already launched the bike earlier in the UK in September this year.
Meanwhile, according to the dealerships, the waiting period on the best-selling Royal Enfield such as the Desert storm, Classic 350, Classic 500 and other models continues to be in the range of “three to eight months, depending on the model”.
