Rane (Madras) bags a Deming
The Rane Group comprises of a holding company and seven manufacturing companies which serve different industry segments: Rane Holdings, Rane (Madras), Rane Engine Valves, Rane Brake Linings, Rane TRW Steering Systems, Rane NSK Steering Systems, Kar Mobiles and Rane Diecast Ltd.
The Chennai-based Rane (Madras) Ltd, part of the Rs 1,365 crore auto component major Rane Group, has received the Deming Prize 2007, awarded by the Japanese Union of Scientists and Engineers (JUSE). It is the group’s fourth company to win this prestigious award. Rane (Madras) makes manual steering and suspension systems and supplies to a host of vehicle manufacturers in India. It also makes many other components including ball joints.
In 2005 Rane Engine Valves and Rane TRW Steering Systems bagged the award, while Rane Brake Linings received it in 2003.
Founded in 1929, the Rane Group has eight companies with manufacturing facilities spread across the country. The group manufactures a wide range of products, supplying every segment of the automotive industry. It also exports to over 20 countries.
