Ramco's ERP drive will help suppliers
Tier-2 and 3 players will be main beneficiaries of these innovative solutions.
Ramco Systems will soon introduce an ERP (enterprise resource planning) programme under the ‘software as service’ (SAS) concept for the component industry. This subscription-based concept will support companies to use the software without actually owning it, said vice president (enterprise solutions – India), Chetan Pathak.
The concept was created to help the Tier-2 and -3 companies who do not have adequate means to invest in full-fledged ERP solutions. However, the growth in the automotive industry is forcing them to upgrade technological capabilities.
“SAS comes in handy since it will offer the best of both worlds for the SMEs,” Pathak said.
He said that the discrete manufacturing landscape had evolved in diversity and complexity, especially in the case of automotive component manufacturing. External factors – like demanding customers, relentless competition and ever-changing regulatory compliance – and internal factors like efficient supply chain management, quality, innovative planning, smart sourcing and cost control measures were forcing component manufacturers to turn to technology to help maintain their competitive edge. The need of the hour is software solutions that strategised, managed and promoted growth.
CRITICAL APPLICATIONS
Designed and developed around the company’s extensive domain knowledge, Ramco’s auto component industry solution addresses the critical needs of both business processes and operations. Fully web-enabled, it is component-based and designed to accommodate changing business needs. It covers the entire range of industry processes and operations like inventory management, procurement, manufacturing, asset maintenance and management, supply chain planning, sales and marketing, finance and human resources.
Pathak said that businesses could succeed in a highly competitive environment only if they were flexible. The solutions offered by Ramco covered all aspects of business including sales, production, warehousing, quality management, HR and finance. The impetus for Ramco to develop the software was unique requirements of companies that could not be met with standard software packages. The solutions developed by Ramco meet the current and future needs of the users.
It has multiple delivery options in the new ERP package, which is based on the company’s own business process delivery system. The package can also be broken into small components. In the area of logistics, Ramco is also planning to provide solution for non-vessel owning common carriers (NVOCC). “Ramco’s solutions will catalyse the operations to enhance overall efficiency and reduce cost substantially,” Pathak said.
Ramco has been offering solutions for third party logistics comprising of route optimisation, yard management, warehousing, container stuffing, and track and trace operations. It already supports a host of clients including IP Rings, Amtek Auto, H1 India, VST Tillers and Bharat Gears.
