Precision Machine to set up plant near Chennai

Precision Machine and Auto Components (PMAC) has received a slew of orders from domestic and overseas customers. These are for a variety of precision machined components including flywheel housings and transmission casings.

Over the last three decades, the Chennai-based company has honed its expertise in machining components for automotive, valve and earthmoving machinery manufacturers. It has been supplying critical axle housings, differential carriers and flywheel housings to a large number of clients, a list that includes Ashok Leyland, Axles India and Caterpillar.

To cater to the new business orders, Precision is setting up a modern facility in the Sipcot Industrial area in Irrugattukottai, about 50 kilometres from Chennai. Construction of the Rs 3 crore unit spread over 10,000 square feet will begin soon, said K Balasubramanian, managing director of the Precision Group. The new plant will have dedicated lines for individual customers to take care of specific requirements. The company has recently inducted a horizontal machining centre and a CNC floor boring machine which have helped produce critical components like transmission casings and flywheel housings for Eicher and Sundaram Clayton.

Apart from catering to the auto sector, Precision also machines valves and related sub-components for Audco India. It also makes and supplies tyre moulding press components and plastic injection machinery parts to Larsen &Toubro. The company, which adheres to stringent norms in its manufacturing process, has received the ‘Best Performance in Quality and Delivery’ award twice from Caterpillar and also the ‘AOTS CUMI ‘5S’ award for the best maintained factory.
