Porsche India has announced that 2022 has been its best year in terms of sales in the country. The German manufacturer sold a total of 779 cars and SUVs last year and its EV – the Taycan – accounted for 10% of entire sales. Worldwide sales for Porsche in 2022 were sold 309,884 vehicles, an increase of 3% over 2021.

Porsche India’s 2022 market performance was a 64% YoY increase with its SUVs – the Macan and Cayenne – witnessing strong 69% annual growth. Porsche sold 399 Cayennes last year, making it the bestselling model for the brand. Globally too, the Cayenne was the carmaker’s best-seller, accounting for 95,604 units or 31% of total global sales.

In comparison, the Macan was the brand’s bestseller in 2021, with 187 units sold, roughly 39% of the total sales.

At the India debut of the 718 Cayman GT4 RS, Manolito Vujicic, brand director for Porsche India said, “in the first full year of sales for the Taycan, we sold 78 units”. This is a significant number for a premium car, let alone an EV, whose pricing starts at Rs 1.53 crore (ex-showroom). The Taycan was launched in India in November 2021.

Porsche currently has a total of eight dealerships across the country, with three new dealerships opening in 2022. All the dealerships also offer Porsche’s customisation and pre-owned programmes, called Exclusive Manufaktur and Approved, respectively.
