BMW Group India posts 37% growth, records highest sales ever

Led by strong revival in the economy and rising disposable income at the top end, BMW Group India posted a growth of 37% to record its highest annual sales yet.

In the calendar year 2022, the company sold 11,981 cars (11,268 BMW units and 713 MINI units) and BMW Motorrad delivered 7,282 motorcycles.

“We have been working relentlessly on our strategy which has given this unabated and dynamic growth in the premium car and motorcycle segment. This achievement is a direct result of an unwavering focus on bringing the most exclusive products, offering the best services and our deep engagement towards meeting customer expectations. Now, our next goal is to meet the high demand for our products throughout the country and to change the game in the premium automotive segment” Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India said in a company statement.

The company's SUV range, the BMW X1, BMW X3, BMW X5 and BMW X7, grew by over 60 percent. Meanwhile, BMW's 3 Series, 5 Series, and 6 Series luxury sedans continued to sustain a double digit growth.

The waiting period for most BMW models is now up to six months because of high demand.

MINI trend
With 713 units, MINI continued to dominate the compact premium segment with 11 percent growth. In terms of sales, the MINI Countryman contributed 41 percent, the MINI Hatch 38 percent, and the MINI Convertible 21 percent.

Motorcycle sales
BMW Motorrad India recorded a 40 percent growth with 7,282 units. In motorcycle sales, the BMW G310 R, BMW G310 RR, and BMW G310 GS commanded 90 percent. Other popular models were BMW S 1000 RR, BMW R 1250 GS / GSA and BMW C 400 GT scooter.
