Parker Hannifin opens new plant in Chennai, to cater to DICV, VECV and MAN Trucks India

Chennai, January 9, 2012: Parker Hannifin Corporation, a global manufacturer of motion and control technologies, has inaugurated its first greenfield manufacturing facility at the Mahindra World City, near Chennai. Built on a 10-acre plot at an investment of Rs 100 crore, the facility will manufacture filtration, pneumatics and drives, sealing and shielding products. Parker Hannifin will, among other products, supply filtration products to Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), Volvo-Eicher Commercial Vehicles (VECV) and MAN Trucks India.

The Chennai facility looks to employ 300 people in the next two or three years. With this facility and acquisitions, Parker Hannifin India plans to double its revenue in the next five years.



“Asia represents approximately 10 percent of our sales today, but over time we would expect that to be as much as 20 percent as our target is to double our business in the region over the next several years and a significant portion of this growth efforts will be focused on India,” said Tom Williams, executive vice-president and operating officer, Parker Hannifin Corporation.

Parker Hannifin employs close to 60,000 people worldwide and global sales for 2012 was $13 billion. The company estimates revenues of $160 million (Rs 880 crore) in 2013 from its India subsidiary.



The Chennai plant will manufacture fuel filters, hydraulics filters, pneumatics, drives, seals, O-rings and shielding products, apart from catering to other industries like off-highway mobile, telecom, oil and gas, mining and primary metals.
