Oerlikon Drive Systems showcases solutions for construction equipment at EXCON 2013

Bangalore, November 21, 2013: Oerlikon Drive Systems, with its two brands Oerlikon Graziano and Oerlikon Fairfield, is displaying its technologies at the ongoing EXCON exhibition in Bangalore. These include the latest axles for wheeled loaders, Torque Hub, Shifting Solutions and components, for all types of demanding construction machinery applications.

Oerlikon’s Drive Systems Segment has been present in India since 1999. The segment operates two production sites in Greater Noida and in Belgaum. At present 60 percent of its Indian revenues are from domestic market sales and 40 percent are from export sales in the agricultural, construction equipment, commercial/utility vehicle and industrial applications markets. The company says India is of increasing importance to the Drive Systems segment as both a market and manufacturing base. Oerlikon’s Drive Systems Segment laid the foundation stone of its third Indian plant at Sanand in Gujarat a few months ago. Once this plant is fully operational, Indian operations will likely account for some 20 percent of the Segment turnover. The unit will allow Drive Systems to deliver high-tech products and solutions at competitive cost by leveraging local talent for local markets in an area where most current and prospective customers are based.

The new Gujarat plant will be specialised from transmission synchronizers, for which India is already recognized as an international competence centre, to assemblies for full and final transmissions for high-end trucks, off-road applications and passenger cars. The facility will also showcase Oerlikon’s commitment to environmental sustainability with high energy efficiency and efficient waste water management.

Between the two brands, Oerlikon Fairfield and Oerlikon Graziano, the product range exhibited at Excon 2013 includes Axles for wheeled loaders, Torque Hub and Shifting Solutions. The axles with wet disk brakes (WDB) and featured with patented pump oil circulation integrated into the differential, with high efficient cooling of the brake disk, can be combined to provide support for wheeled loaders with machine operating weight from 11 to 24 tons. Torque Hub are final drive units that deliver the torque output and long service life required for agricultural, industrial and off-highway mobile equipment applications. The company will also display examples of its gear sets (gears, shafts, crown wheel and pinions, planetary gears and its Shifting Solutions (synchronizers and powershift units).
