Nissan Motor India has announced wholesales of 3,283 units in August 2022, down 10.47% on July 2022’s 3,667 units. The Chennai-based carmaker is seeing demand slowing down in the domestic market: the cumulative April-August 2022 tally is 14,706 units, down 5.57% YoY (April-August 2021: 15,575 units).

In an effort to rev up demand for the Magnite, on July 18, Nissan launched the Magnite Red Edition, which gets cosmetic updates to the exterior and interior, along with additional equipment, and priced from Rs 786,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new edition is based on the Magnite’s mid-spec XV trim and is available with all three powertrain options – 1.0-litre NA petrol-manual, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol manual, and the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol CVT. It is the first time Nissan has introduced a special edition of the Magnite since its launch in 2020.

Exports on the upswing
Compared to its domestic market performance, Nissan India’s exports are on the upswing – it shipped 5,632 units in August, taking its April-August 2022 overseas wholesales to 21,724 units, which constitutes 71% growth YoY. On July 28, Nissan India despatched its millionth vehicle manufactured at the Renault-Nissan Automotive India plant in Chennai. The export journey to the million-units milestone has taken a little less than 12 years.
