Nano, Pulsar 135LS take top honours at Autocar Awards.

The Tata Nano has won the prestigious Bloomberg UTV-Autocar Car of the Year 2010 award on January 15.Bajaj Pulsar 135LS bagged the Bike of the Year 2010 award.

Nano, Pulsar 135LS take top honours at Autocar Awards.

The Tata Nano has won the prestigious Bloomberg UTV-Autocar Car of the Year 2010 award on January 15. Accepting the award, Ratan Tata, chairman, Tata Motors, said: “I would like to accept this award on the behalf of the young engineers at Tata Motors, who achieved what was considered impossible. I hope that what we have produced gives a lot of people an affordable car and happiness in the years to come.”

Meanwhile, the Bajaj Pulsar 135LS bagged the Bike of the Year 2010 award. These awards are the Oscars of the Indian automotive industry and are selected by a distinguished jury that includes Hormazd Sorabjee, editor, Autocar India and Autocar Professional; Shapur Kotwal, deputy editor, Autocar India; Rishad Cooper, Autocar India's bike expert, car designer Dilip Chhabria, auto historian Manvendra Singh, Renuka Kirpalani, editor, Autocar Show, and six-time national rally champion Naren Kumar. The jury felt that the twin-cylinder Nano represented a history-making car by Tata Motors and was impressed at how much it delivers for its low price-tag. The special guests for the evening were Formula 1 racing champion Narain Karthikeyan and Autocar UK editor Chas Hallet.
