May 5: The Maruti Suzuki Ritz hatchback has crossed the 200,000 sales mark, 36 months after its launch. Like its Swift sibling, the Ritz is one of the fastest models to achieve 200,000 unit sales. It had crossed the 100,000 mark in October 2010. During the last fiscal, the Ritz was among the bestsellers in the premium A2 segment, selling over 64,000 units in the domestic market. On the export front, Maruti has shipped over 8,000 units to South East Asia and neighboring countries.
Commenting on the Ritz’s landmark, Shashank Srivastava, chief GM (marketing), Maruti Suzuki, said: “Launched in 2009, the Ritz has played a wonderful innings so far. It is powered by the two very successful engines: the 1.2-litre K-series petrol engine and the DDiS 1.3-litre diesel engine. Now when the market is skewed towards diesel, we expect the Ritz to gain more volumes in the future as well.”
