Maruti Suzuki launches limited edition Wagon R

Maruti Suzuki India today introduced a limited edition version of its tall-boy hatchback, Wagon R called ‘Felicity’.

Loaded with a host of cosmetic upgrades such as reverse parking sensors with display and voice guidance, double-din Bluetooth music system with speakers, the limited edition is available in Lxi variant. The car is also equipped with PU seat and steering cover, body graphics and a rear spoiler to add more spunk.

Wagon R Felicity limited edition will be available in two variants – Lxi and Vxi with all existing fuel and transmission options. The car is priced in the range of Rs 4.40 lakh for Lxi variant to Rs 5.37 lakh for Vxi-AMT (O) variant.

Introducing the limited edition model, RS Kalsi, executive director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India, said, “Wagon R is one of the most successful car brands ever in India. As the brand has evolved, its popularity and loyalty have grown. We wanted to celebrate the brand by creating something distinct and special, which is fresh and feature rich. Wagon R Felicity is the result, and will be available only in limited numbers. I am sure it will appeal to Wagon R loyalists as well as compact car customers.”

The Wagon R has been Maruti Suzuki’s most successful model alongside the 800 and the Alto. Despite being in production since 1999, Maruti has continuously improved its old workhorse with timely facelifts and upgrades to keep it relevant for the Indian market. As a result, the Wagon R has been among India’s top five best selling cars for the last five years in a row.

Even in FY2016-17 (April-October), the carmaker has sold over 100,000 units of the Wagon R with a YoY growth of 2.7%. The feat is even more impressive considering the current trend of falling sales of Maruti’s compact cars.

Very low maintenance costs, a host of fuel options and an addition of the AMT gearbox have contributed to the long-term success of the Wagon R and with more bells and whistles on the limited edition variant Maruti is hoping to attract more buyers for the car in the near term.
