With this, BIAL will become the first Indian airport to have an EV charging infrastructure. The facilities are offered exclusively to Mahindra e2o customers, free of cost with an additional benefit of 20 percent discount on parking charges.
Bangalore is home to the largest number of electric cars in the country and Mahindra Reva says it has installed over 100 charge points at convenient locations which include shopping malls, various State Bank of India branches, automotive garages, M&M dealerships, and now BIAL across the city, enabling customers to have access to at least one every 5km.
Commenting on the initiative, Chetan Maini, CEO, Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles, said, “We are happy to partner with BIAL and appreciate their belief in our vision of the future of mobility.
Facilitating free EV charging at the airport will help customers to do affordable airport commutes from various parts of the city without any range anxiety. We look forward to working with the government and other entities to create an EV ecosystem for the adoption of zero emission mobility for cleaner and greener cities.”
“We are proud to have partnered with Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles in their efforts to create an enabling and sustainable environment. We look forward to support such alternative methods that help us work towards developing an environment-friendly airport,” said G V Sanjay Reddy, managing director, BIAL, on the new initiative.
