KGK gets slew of big orders

KGK Industries, part of the Coimbatore-based KGK Group, has recently supplied a pilot lot of 200 brake levers to Bosch. Considered to be the first of its kind, the company has developed an aluminium brake lever by forging against the conventional high pressure die casting method. According to R Krishnamoorthi, managing director, initial volumes will be 100,000 pieces per annum. KGK has also been supplying forged clamps to Bosch to meet the needs of the Bajaj Pulsar.

Meanwhile, the company has recently developed several varieties of three- and four-way hydraulic unions for Mahindra vehicles. The products have been validated and the company hopes to get the nod for commercial production soon. Initial volumes will be around 200,000 pieces per annum. KGK has developed a similar product for TVS Motor for a new motorcycle to be launched in the near future.

It has also readied two varieties of ‘injector clamps’ for Ashok Leyland for the new engine being developed for its heavy commercial vehicle. Samples have been validated and production will begin in July. Leyland sources many components from KGK including rocker arms (both inlet and exhaust) for Hino engines, pistons and adaptors.

KGK also meets the needs of Force Motors, Luças-TVS and Tatra Udyog. The company posted a turnover of Rs 3.6 crore in 2005-06 and hopes to touch Rs 6 crore in 2006-07. it has earmarked Rs 2 crore to increase capacity. “Our aim is to cross the Rs 10-crore turnover mark in three years and Rs 100 crore in 10 years with about 60 percent of revenue coming from exports,” Krishnamoorthi says.
