JLR sales down 4 percent in September
October 15, 2012: Global sales figures for the Tata-owned Jaguar Land Rover brands are out. The two vehicle brands sold 26,461 vehicles in September 2012, lower by four percent over September 2011, which includes model year changeover timings.
October 15, 2012: Global sales figures for the Tata-owned Jaguar Land Rover brands are out. The two vehicle brands sold 26,461 vehicles in September 2012, lower by four percent over September 2011, which includes model year changeover timings.
While Jaguar sold 2,808 vehicles in September 2012 and cumulatively 21,606 units in the April-September 2012 period, Land Rover sales in September 2012 were 23,653 vehicles with cumulative sales comprising 139,288 vehicles. Cumulative numbers for JLR for the first half of 2012-13 were up by 24 percent to 160,894 units.
JLR’s sales have received a major boost as a result of the Range Rover Evoque that has been selling briskly, especially in China where the company is close to finalising a joint venture to assemble vehicles for the Chinese market. The brisk business has kept JLR’s plant at Halewood in the UK operating 24/7 thanks to demand for the SUV. JLR has about 100 dealerships in China.
The Tata Motors Group global sales, including JLR were 103,656 units in the month, lower by four percent over September 2011. Cumulative sales for the fiscal are 579,037, up eight percent compared to the year-earlier period.
