India Yamaha Motor sales up 34 percent in July 2013
August 1, 2013: India Yamaha Motor has posted a sales increase of 34.5 percent in sales in July 2013 as compared to the corresponding month last year.
August 1, 2013: India Yamaha Motor has posted a sales increase of 34.5 percent in sales in July 2013 as compared to the corresponding month last year.
The company sold 37,494 units in July 2013 (July 2012: 27,858) in the domestic market thereby registering a domestic sales growth of 34.59 percent. At present, the company’s India product portfolio comprises the 153cc Fazer, FZ-S, FZ, SZ-X, SZ-R and SZ-RR, 150cc YZF-R15 Version 2.0, 123cc SS125, YBR 125, 106cc YBR 110 and Crux, and the 113cc Ray and Ray Z scooters. Its import portfolio includes the 1679cc VMAX and the 998cc YZF-R1 and FZ1.
On July 22, India Yamaha Motor recalled 56,082 of its Ray scooters, after it detected insufficient strength in the handlebar of some scooters arising out of inadequate welding issues. According to the company, in extreme cases, the glitch is likely to impact the scooter’s steering operation. The recently launched Ray Z is unaffected by the recall.
On the export front, India Yamaha Motor sold 20,657 units in July 2013 (July 2012: 9,135), a growth of 126 percent.
