Hyundai Mobis and Tata Elxsi partner for autonomous driving R&D

Mobis Technical Centre, India, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hyundai Mobis, South Korea, has announced its collaboration with Tata Elxsi for the development of the Synthetic Scene Generator Tool.

Hyundai Mobis Technical Centre in India (HMTCI) and Tata Elxsi are working on developing a tool that can replicate every real-world scenario an automobile could encounter, which could run into millions of possibilities. This tool would help accelerate the ongoing research and development support HMTCI is providing to their OEMs in autonomous driving.

Tata Elxsi says it is bringing together deep expertise in digital technologies including Artificial Intelligence, Extended Reality, and Gaming to develop this advanced simulation tool that will accelerate the realisation of driverless cars.

According to Shaju S, head of Tata Elxsi’s Automotive Division, said, “Our leadership position in automotive engineering services and autonomous driving technologies, coupled with digital capabilities, will be a valuable addition for Hyundai Mobis. We are delighted to be partnering with Hyundai Mobis in realising their vision for the future of autonomous driving.”

Hyundai Mobis serves as the parts and service arm for Hyundai Motor Company, Kia Motors and Genesis Motors and is one of the global Top 10 Automotive Suppliers. Hyundai Mobis Technical Centre in India (HMTCI), based in Hyderabad, works on various projects related to vehicle infotainment, mechatronics (Chassis, Safety, Vision Systems), CAE (CFD, Crash, Durability, EMI-EMC, and NVH).

Tata Elxsi is a global design and technology services company, headquartered in Bangalore. It works with leading OEMs and suppliers in the automotive and transportation industries for R&D, design and product engineering services from architecture to launch and beyond. It brings together domain experience across infotainment, autonomous driving, telematics, powertrain, and body electronics, along with technologies such as artificial intelligence and analytics.
