Hyundai Alcazar gets 11,000 bookings, over 60% for diesel variants
One-third of bookings for top-end Signature variant; 63% customer select diesel variants
Hyundai Motor India, which had introduced the six- / seven-seater Creta-based SUV – the Hyundai Alcazar – on June 18 with prices ranging between Rs 16.30 and Rs 20.14 lakh ex-showroom, has received over 11,000 bookings in a month. The company has, over a month, delivered around 5,600 units to customers across the country.
The Alcazar currently has a waiting period of almost eight months in some cities. Autocar Professional has learnt that customers, who are willing to spend a little extra over the Creta (Rs 999,000 to Rs 17.65 lakh ex-showroom), are opting for the Alcazar as it is available almost immediately.
Hyundai Motor India further claims that almost one-third of the 11,000 bookings are for the top-of-the-line Signature variant, and almost 63 percent customers have opted for the diesel variants.
According to Tarun Garg, director, Sales, Marketing and Service, HMI, “The Hyundai Alcazar has received an overwhelming response from customers. So far, we have already sold over 5,600 units and the addition of this SUV in our line-up has enhanced our value offering to the Indian customer.”
The Hyundai Alcazar comes in three trims – Prestige, Platinum and Signature – with features like a panoramic sunroof and 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment being standard across the range.
It comes with two powertrain options – 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, 157bhp petrol and a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged, 113bhp diesel. Both engines come either with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox options.
The SUV offers captain chairs in the middle row in the six-seat variant, and safety features include ISOFIX, 360-degree camera and lane-changing camera as well.
At launch, Hyundai had claimed over 4,000 bookings of the Alcazar and the number has only grown. In a pandemic-impacted FY2021, the company sold a total of 214,167 UVs for a market share of 20.19 percent. India’s best-selling UV – the Creta – with 120,035 units accounted for 56 percent of UV sales, with sibling Venue contributing 43 percent to total numbers.
