May 14, 2013: Hero MotoCorp Ltd (HMCL) has announced its entry into the new export markets of Guatemala City, El Salvador and Honduras in Central America. The two-wheeler major has appointed Indy Motos Group of Guatemala as the authorised distributor of the Hero MotoCorp range of two-wheelers in these three countries.
The export product portfolio will include the Hunk, Karizma, Glamour, HF Dawn, Splendor NXG, Super Splendor and Achiever motorcycles. The products will be distributed through a network of outlets spread across these countries, with more new outlets to be added subsequently.
Hero MotoCorp is also slated to kick off operations in other new international markets in Latin and Central America and Africa in a bid to reach its stated objective of 10 percent of its total volumes accruing from international business in the next four to five years. The two-wheeler maker currently exports its two-wheelers to Colombia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.
Commenting on the plan, Pawan Munjal, managing director and CEO, Hero MotoCorp, said: “This launch is a significant milestone for us considering this is the first of the new international markets where we are starting our operations. It is indicative of the significant role that markets in Central America and Latin America will play in our global expansion plans.”
