Hero Electric showcases new offerings at Auto Expo 2018
Hero Electric has launched eight new products in its electric mobility portfolio that includes four new scooters and four electric bicycles.
Hero Electric launched eight new products at the Indian Auto Expo 2018. Four of the products are based on the hi-speed scooter platform and the other four based on the electric bicycle platform in collaboration with its UK subsidiary, A2B.
Hero Electric has been manufacturing electric two-wheelers for the past one decade. It largely attracts first-time riders that basically consist of teenagers and college-goers. Since the 2Ws do not attract RTO registration and a driving license, it seems even more alluring for amateur riders.
Recently at the Auto Expo 2018, Naveen Munjal, managing director, Hero Electric Vehicles took the covers off eight new offerings from the company. Of the new launches, the four new high-speed e-bikes (with the body form of a scooter) have been named as AXLHE-20, HE-19, HE-18 and HE-17. Hero promised that these e-bikes would deliver a perfect blend of performance and efficiency. The company also launched premium electric bicycles through its collaboration with A2B, a UK-based electric bicycle-making subsidiary of Hero Electric Vehicles. under the A2B banner, it launched Blake, Kroemer-MTB, Speed and Kuo Boost.
At the expo, the company also announced its ‘10 Years Ahead’ campaign to commemorate its 10 years of experience in manufacturing electric scooters, with the launch of 15 new products in these past 10 years, Hero Electric has garnered 65 percent share of India’s electric two-wheeler market. As the world’s biggest two-wheeler market is entering the Electric mobility race, many of the mainstream two-wheel manufacturers like TVS and Honda have already entered the frenzy.
It is to be highlighted that Hero electric has gained a considerable ground in the e-2W market. Speaking at the launch Sohinder Gill, the chief executive officer of Hero Electric and director— corporate affairs, Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles (SMEV) said, “Hero Electric has been leading India’s electric mobility revolution for over a decade now. Our commitment towards sustainable mobility is manifested in the consistently superior products that we have launched over the years. Our new product range is an extension of this commitment.” These new products will be introduced in the market in a phased manner at the earliest.
Future Plans
Hero Electric plans to double its sales every year over the next five years and also plans to increase its manufacturing capacity by setting up multiple plants during the same period. The OEM currently has a network of more than 500 touch points across the country. Hero Electric currently has more than 200,000 customers.
