Greaves Cotton rolls out 3 millionth light diesel engine
Greaves Cotton achieved a major milestone on February 17 with the roll-out of its three millionth light diesel engine. The company’s MD and CEO, Sunil Pahilajani, rolled out the engine at the Aurangabad facility. In December 2004, Greaves Cotton had rolled out the millionth light diesel engine mark followed by the second million, four and a half years later in May 2009. The three millionth engine roll-out marks the fastest and comes in less than three years.

Commenting on this milestone, Pahilajani said: "Greaves Cotton’s customer-centric approach with ability to adapt to evolving market dynamics has made it a formidable player in the light engines business. Our growing presence in the four-wheeler Small Commercial Vehicles (SCV) market is a testimony to our strong in-house R&D and manufacturing capabilities. I am confident that the next million landmark will be even quicker.”

Greaves auto engines power a host of SCVs from Piaggio, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra and Atul Auto, among others. In addition, Greaves engines also cater to tractors and a range of off-road applications.

Greaves Cotton, which has 11 manufacturing units in India, has a dedicated technology centre which designs and develops proprietary technology eco-friendly diesel engines for automotive and other applications. The company’s light diesel engines are in the range of 4-20hp and find wide applications in automotive, marine, industrial and other uses.
