GM enters used car business in India

After Maruti Suzuki, Ford, Hyundai, and Honda, General Motors is the latest entrant looking for potential buyers of its vehicles in India’s used car market.

The carmaker has launched the Chevrolet-OK Cars programme to buy and sell pre-owned cars from the Chevrolet stable. The pre-owned programme from Chevrolet is now operational in nine outlets across six cities and will expand to 30 country-wide outlets by this year-end. According to P Balendran, vice-president, GM India, “The dealer- driven activity will help us retain customers, ensure customer loyality, generate additional sales volume through conversions and hence add revenue, and enlarge customer base.”
