Gadkari calls for an R&D organisation for CE industry on lines of ARAI
The organisation will conduct research and develop technology
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has called for an organisation specially for the Indian construction equipment manufacturing industry which can conduct research and develop appropriate technology for the future on lines of the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI).
Addressing ICEMA's annual Session 2022, Gadkari assured the CE industry that his ministry will support the making of this organisation which can be qualitatively helpful for development of futuristic technology
ARAI, which was established in 1966, is the leading automotive R&D organisation of the country and is an autonomous body affiliated to the Ministry of Heavy Industries. The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology, has recognised ARAI as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO). Further, ARAI is one of the prime testing and certification agencies notified by the Government of India under Rule 126 of Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989.
Gadkari also said that without economic viability, the technology cannot be useful and asked manufacturers to concentrate on fuel efficiency. He stressed on the importance of bio LNG , bio CNG and hydrogen as alternative fuels for cost saving and reduction in pollution in addition to e-mobility.
