Exports give Bajaj Auto’s Q2 results more thrust

Bajaj Auto has recorded a 13 percent in its Q2 net profits at Rs 837 crore as against Rs 741 crore in the year-earlier period. Its sales turnover however, went up by thus 3 percent to Rs 5,299 crore as against Rs 5,139 crore in the year-earlier period.
The company’s export business contributed in a significant way to overall revenues with a growth of 26 percent to Rs 2,125 crore as against 1,686 crore in the year-earlier Q2. Among the markets that the company has targeted include Africa which the company claimed is yielding rich dividends.
Apart from a stellar export performance, Bajaj said its focus on high-margin products also helped with 75 percent of its total revenue generated by verticals that operate on ebidta margins of over 30 percent.
In terms of the sales numbers, there was a dip in Q2 with total sales of 961,330 units as against 1019,208 units. Cumulative sales for the first half were down 9 percent to 1,940,605 units as against 2,128,179 units in the H1 of 2012-13.
The company has recently launched the Discover 100M in its entry-level offerings that will retail at Rs 45,996 (ex-showroom Delhi). Powered by Bajaj’s four-valve DTS-i technology, the engine generates maximum power of 9.2bhp and peak torque of 0.91kgm. The product’s claimed mileage is 84kpl.
