August 6, 2013: The Tavera recall issue seems to be having a much larger ripple effect than thought earlier. Following an internal probe into the recall-related issues, an additional 35 key executives have reportedly been asked to quit.
Those asked to quit are officials across its two plants in Talegaon and Halol as well as in the corporate office in National Capital Region.
A GM India's spokesperson had earlier refused to comment on “internal personnel matters" as per its “company policy”.
General Motors has said it “identified violations of company policy” regarding the Tavera which is only sold in India. The company had apparently re-fitted already-approved engines in new Tavera models sent for inspection, in an attempt to meet the specified emission norms.
