Denso’s tech centre in Gurgaon starts operations
With an aim to increasing its product development capability in India, Denso Corporation has begun operations at its sixth regional technical centre in Gurgaon.
With an aim to increasing its product development capability in India, Denso Corporation has begun operations at its sixth regional technical centre in Gurgaon. Autocar Professional had first reported about this all-new facility in its January 15 issue.
The new technical centre employs about 60 employees and the investment represents approximately Rs 1.5 billion (US$30.9 million). The new unit, which is a part of Denso International India, will lead development of automotive powertrains, electric and electronic systems, information and safety systems, small motors, and motorcycle products for vehicle manufacturers in India.
“Transferring product development operations from Japan to India will allow us to quickly respond to both the market and customer needs in India,” said Yasushi Nei, chairman of Denso International India and Denso’s executive director (pictured). “In addition, the technical centre will support automotive software development in other regions of the world.”

The new technical centre has various testing and evaluating equipment, including an engine bench and chassis dynamometer that enables vehicle testing in -30 to 50deg Celsius environment. Additionally, the centre also has materials engineering and an evaluating function to further promote materials procurement in India, in cooperation with procurement divisions at Denso’s manufacturing companies.
