Datsun Go and Go+ get a visual makeover, reworked cabins, more safety kit and equipment. Priced from Rs 329,000 for the hatchback and Rs 383,000 for the MPV (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Datsun has launched the facelifted Go hatchback at Rs 329,000 and the Go+ MPV at Rs 383,000. Both cars have received a comprehensive update and now pack more by way of features and safety, in addition to updates to the interior and exteriors.

On the outside, the Go and Go+ facelifts sport a revised styling package. The cars get reprofiled headlamps and restyled front bumpers with integrated vertical daytime-running LEDs. The grille also gets subtle changes and keeps the models looking fresh. Higher-spec versions of the models get 14-inch alloy wheels, rear wash/wipe and rear parking sensors.

Inside, both cars get major updates. The dashboard has a revised layout with a new design for the central vents and the new touchscreen infotainment system. Also, the revised instrument cluster sees the addition of an analogue tachometer. Moreover, the new dash also gets proper lids for the glovebox, which was not offered on the outgoing model. The conjoined front seats have also been done away with for more conventional individual seats.

Equipment levels also get a major fillip with the fitment of a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that's loaded with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Electric mirror adjust and rear power windows are also new to the package.

Datsun has also enhanced the Go's safety package to comply with upcoming norms. A driver airbag (formerly an option) and ABS are standard, while a passenger side airbag offered on the top-spec trims.

The updated Go and Go+ continue to use the outgoing models' 68hp, 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. An AMT gearbox may be offered in the future.

Speaking on the launch, Thomas Kuehl, president, Nissan India Operations said, “The new Datsun Go and Datsun Go+ is conceptualised for the new-age Indian consumer, the millennials who are mature, smart goers, family oriented with a progressive and evolved mindset. Powered by Japanese engineering, Datsun Go and Go+ are equipped with fabulous new features and upgrades for a more comfortable, safe and stylish driving experience.”

With the hike in price, the Go hatchback now faces fresh competition from the likes of the Tata Tiago, Maruti Suzuki Celerio and the new Hyundai Santro.
