Dassault logs on to FEA

Dassault Systèmes (DS) has announced that Research and Development Establishment (Engineers) (R&DE (E)) has selected Abaqus Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software from Simulia India to meet its virtual testing requirements. R&DE (E) is an engineering group that works with metal and composite materials.

Composite materials are increasingly being used for their strong yet light-weight properties and the ability of their structural response to be tailored as needed. R&DE (E) has selected Abaqus FEA software for its robust linear and non-linear structural analysis capabilities, as well as advanced composites modeling and simulation features. Abaqus is being used for performing not only static, but also dynamic load case simulations of impact penetration, vehicle dynamics, and geotechnical interactions. These are essential in determining the right composites material to be used in applications such as bridges, military vehicles, sonar domes, and ship superstructure.

“Simulia India provides the best technical support in the industry,” adds Dr. Makarand Joshi, head, Composite Research Center (CRC), R&DE (E). “For several years we have been invested in R&D with a specific focus on composite simulation, including sophisticated tools for fracture and failure prediction,” says Ken Short, VP, strategy and marketing, Simulia, Dassault Systèms.
