New Cooper engine revealed
Cooper Corporation will be launching a new 1.2-litre, two-cylinder engine at the Expo.
Cooper Corporation will be launching a new 1.2-litre, two-cylinder engine at the Expo. This motor can be powered by diesel, CNG or LPG and has been designed by leading UK-based engineering consultancy Ricardo. The unit meets Euro IV emission norms and is also designed to meet future Euro V norms.
Cooper hired Ricardo for this project back in 2007 to "provide product and design concepts for a family of ultra modern engines capable of meeting forthcoming global emission norms," according to Zal Cooper, director, Cooper Corporation
This flex-fuel engine is controlled by an electronic engine management system. According to the company, it is suitable for commercial vehicles, power generation, tractors and agricultural machinery, construction equipments, industrial machinery, marine and special purpose defence applications. The engine has also been desgined to power Cooper’s forthcoming range of commercial vehicles.
Cooper is exhibiting this engine at the Engine Pavilion in Hall 12D, Stall 7.
The company says it will also be launching bigger 4.5-litre and 6.8-litre engines (see box) in the next 18 to 24 months. However, for the time being, the 1.2-litre unit will take centrestage.
