Cooper Corp unveils new 4-cylinder engine

Cooper Corporation has showcased its all-new four-cylinder engine at the 11th Auto Expo. It was unveiled by James Bevan, the UK high commissioner designate to India. Farrokh Cooper, chairman and managing director of Cooper Corporation, said: “Our new product is part of our commitment to offer state-of-the-art integrated technological solutions to customers.”

The engine will be produced both for gensets as well as vehicle applications. For vehicle and variable speed applications the engine will use CRDI systems meeting the corresponding emission norms applicable currently (e.g. Euro IV and BS IV for vehicle and variable speed application) and are Euro V protected so the engines will meet future norms as well.

With regard to gas engines, the company is developing the gas engines to meet the genset requirements using mixture type of gas systems. The engines will also be developed using high pressure gas injection / mixing system for vehicle application.

Available with rotary fuel pump and CRDI options, the engines will have four valves per cylinder and turbo charged with charge air cooling. The engines are of compact size which occupies less space per unit output. Euro IV-compliant for automotive application, flexi fuel option (diesel, CNG, LPG) with B10 life of 7,000 hours/ 250,000km are some of its salient features.

Cooper Corporation, a pioneering company which built India’s first diesel engine and a market leader in centrifugal castings, says its sales for the current fiscal are expected to cross Rs 300 crore.
