CEV to supply LPG kits to Hyundai Accent Eco

Hyundai Motor India has launched an LPG powered version of its Accent saloon model called the Accent Eco. The kits will be supplied by leading Korean LPG kit supplier CEV (Clean Energy Vehicle).

The kit comes with an advanced Lambda sensor control system that ensures the vehicle meets Euro 3 emission norms.

The vehicle will initially be sold in Delhi and the NCR, in collaboration with CEV India, which is equipped to sell and service the Accent Eco. According to Hyundai, the volume of kits that would be supplied by CEV would depend on the demand for the car.

The Accent Eco is priced at Rs. 533,900, which is Rs. 34,900 higher than the existing petrol model.

The car is also fitted with an engine immobiliser as a standard feature for added security.

In June last year, Hyundai had launched the Accent CNG, following the success of the CNG version of its popular small car the Santro in 2007.

According to H S Lheem, managing director, HMIL, ‘’The LPG version will only add to the appeal of the Accent saloon, as it will not only be cheaper to run and maintain but also be environment friendly."

He added "we have ensured that the Accent LPG meets all the existing safety standards, and our customers can be assured about the safety and reliability of our products.’’

The launch of the Hyundai Verna in late 2006 resulted in a decline in the popularity of the Accent. Hyundai had lowered its price to bring in buyers and the Accent Eco LPG version is another attempt to keep sales ticking over.
