Bosch bags Toyota’s global supplier award for the fourth time

Bosch bags Toyota’s global supplier award for the fourth time

February 28, 2013: Toyota Motor Corporation has presented its Global Contribution Award to the Bosch Group, the leading global supplier of innovative technologies and services. This is the highest supplier honour the automaker awards, and is given in recognition of companies that have performed outstandingly over the previous year.

Continuous improvement activities and collaboration with Toyota on a global level, especially in the areas of quality, communication, smooth launch management, and cost optimisation, secured Bosch this prestigious award. This is the fourth time Bosch has received Toyota’s Global Contribution Award, following the awards in 2003, 2004, and 2011.

The award was presented as part of the annual Global Supplier Conference, which took place on February 21, 2013, at the Nagoya Congress Centre. Dr. Volkmar Denner, chairman of the board of management of Robert Bosch GmbH, accepted the Global Contribution Award from Mr. Fujio Cho, Chairman of Toyota on behalf of the Bosch Group. “We are proud to receive this award, which we see as a recognition for the dedication our associates have shown.” said Denner after the presentation. “Bosch will consistently strive to maintain technological leadership through innovative and efficient high quality products.” In 2013, Bosch also won the ‘Superior Value Improvement Award’ for its cost-competitive products. The factor that was most instrumental in clinching this award for Bosch was the development of the most cost-competitive ESC (electronic stability control) to date. This compact and lightweight antiskid system meets the increasing demand for safety technologies.

Automotive technology is the largest Bosch Group business sector. More than 175,000 automotive technology associates work in seven areas of business: injection technology for internal-combustion engines, powertrain peripherals, alternative drive concepts, active and passive safety systems, assistance and comfort functions, in-car information and communication, as well as services and technology for the automotive aftermarket. Bosch has been responsible for important automotive innovations, such as electronic engine management, the ESP anti-skid system, and common-rail diesel technology.

In India, the Bosch Group operates in India through six companies: Bosch Ltd, Bosch Chassis Systems India, Bosch Rexroth India, Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions, Bosch Automotive Electronics India, Bosch Electrical Drives India. In India, Bosch set up its manufacturing operation in 1953, which has grown over the years to include 13 manufacturing sites and 7 development and application centres Bosch Group in India employs over 26,000 associates. In India it generated consolidated revenue of nearly Rs 12,900 crore in 2012. In India Bosch Ltd is the flagship company of the Bosch Group. It earned revenue of over Rs 8,500 crore in 2012.
