The CT 125X uses the same engine as the now-discontinued Bajaj Discover 125.
In an effort to rev up demand for its commuter motorcycle portfolio, Bajaj Auto has launched the new CT 125X at Rs 71,534 which will now be sold alongside the CT 110X.
The new CT 125X uses the same 124.4cc engine which powered the now-discontinued Bajaj Discover 125 and develops 10.8hp at 8000rpm and 11Nm at 5500rpm. Feeding fuel to this engine is an ‘Intelligent Carburettor’ instead of a traditional fuel-injection system, making this one of the very few motorcycles on the market available today with this feature. This engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox with an all-down shifting pattern.
Suspension duties on the CT 125X are handled by a telescopic fork at the front and dual gas-charged shocks at the rear. Braking hardware comprises a 130mm drum front (or an optional 240mm disc) and a 130mm drum at the rear. The CT 125X is shod with an 80/100-17 tyre in front and a 100/90-17 at the rear.
Bajaj Auto despatched a total of 161,382 bikes in July 2022, marginally above the 155,502 units in July 2021. Its April-July 2022 wholesales tally is 469,541 units, down 5.53% YoY (April-July 2021: 497,061). Like the rest of the industry, Bajaj Auto is awaiting an uptick in demand for commuter motorcycles.
