Audi India launched the new Q7 SUV with prices starting at Rs 72 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Compared to the first-gen model, the new Q7 is a tad smaller and weighs 2060kg, making it lighter by 300kg.

In terms of styling, the SUV gets a new single-piece grille, prominent creases, restyled bumpers at the front and back, angular headlamps and rectangular LED tail-lamps. The interiors of the new Q7 follow a minimalist theme with a neatly designed dashboard and a free-standing infotainment display. There's also an all-new centre console with a new gear lever and multi-media controller.

Available in two trim levels – Premium Plus and Technology – the Q7 comes equipped with features such as Audi’s new infotainment system, full leather seats with electric adjustment, four-zone climate control, a 19-speaker Bose audio system, panoramic sunroof, an electric folding third row, a 360-degree camera, Park Assist, Matrix LED headlamps, Audi’s ‘Virtual Cockpit’ all-digital instrument cluster and Drive Select, and air suspension.

The engine on the new Q7 is a 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel engine capable of 268bhp and 61kgm of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters and the Quattro all-wheel-drive technology badged 'Q7 45TDI'.

“India is a land of quattro and SUVs owing to their high degree of functionality are the preferred choice of mobility here. The all-new Q7 encapsulates the cutting-edge technology that is at the very heart of the Audi brand. It is an efficient and sporty superlative offering, with even better dynamics than its predecessor. Lightweight yet extremely powerful, the class-defining SUV offers unprecedented performance with exceptional fuel efficiency. The all-new chassis made up of multi-material body provides excellent comfort while its eight-speed Tiptronic transmission allows drivability that is both agile and comfortable. The all-new Q7 is poised to emulate the success of its predecessor,” said Joe King, head, Audi India.

Initially, the new SUV will be brought in via the CBU route, but the company is expected to start local assembly of the Q7 at its Aurangabad facility sometime in 2016.
