Smart electric scooter maker Ather Energy today inaugurated its newest retail outlet in Malad, Mumbai. The OEM says it is witnessing strong demand from Maharashtra, and has seen a seven-fold growth in numbers over the past year. Ather, however, has not provided details of the total sales in the state.

The new Ather Space experience centre in Mumbai, its second in the financial capital with the Jakhate Group, aims to meet the increasing demand for the 450 series in the city. The showroom will retails the new and improved Gen-3 variant of the flagship Ather 450X (Rs 149,934) and 450 Plus (Rs 128,424).

All Ather Space stores are designed to educate customers about every aspect of the EV including the engineering and mechanical efforts that go into each Ather scooter. Mumbaiites can book test ride slots on the company’s website before visiting the experience centre for a test ride.

Ravneet S Phokela: "Maharashtra has responded phenomenally to the 450 series. We have witnessed a 7X growth in sales in the past 12 months."

Speaking about the expansion, Ravneet S Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ather Energy, said, “Maharashtra has responded phenomenally to the 450 series and we have witnessed a 7X growth in sales of our scooters in the past 12 months. With the launch of the Gen-3 scooters, we are confident of capturing a larger market share in the state. A bigger battery pack of 3.7 kWh considerably improves the ride consistency and range of the new Ather 450X thereby offering a more refined ride experience to consumers looking for exciting yet reliable and consistently performing electric scooters. The new experience centre will help us cater to the growing demand.''

The company has been registering a significant increase in sales over the past year, emphasising the strong demand for its electric scooters. Booking orders for Ather’s flagship product is growing at 25% quarter-on-quarter.

Akshay Jakhete, Director, Jakhete Group, said:  “We have extended our relationship with Ather and are proud to take it further with our second experience centre at Malad.”

24 Ather Grid charging points in Mumbai, 60 in Maharashtra
Ather Energy is one of the few OEMs that also invests in building charging infrastructure. The company has installed 24 Ather Grids in Mumbai and plans to add more across the city to strengthen the charging network and eliminate range anxiety. Ather has installed over 60 charging grids in Maharashtra. It currently has 350-plus charging stations across over 40 cities and plans to install 5,000 fast chargers in the next three years.

On July 19, 2022, Ather launched the Gen-3 of the 450 series. Equipped with a bigger (by 25%) and more powerful 3.7 kWh battery, the newest Ather has an ARAI-certified range of 146km and a ‘TrueRange’ of 105km on a single charge. Built on Ather’s proven 450 platform, the 450X Gen-3 gets a host of new features that enhance its performance and ride consistency.  The enhanced battery now enables users to ride in the ‘Warp’ (Ather’s high-performance mode) through every ride.
