Ashok Leyland’s Pantnagar and Alwar units bag National Energy Conservation Awards 2012
Chennai, December 31, 2012: Two manufacturing units of Ashok Leyland have won the most prestigious National Energy Conservation Awards 2012.
Chennai, December 31, 2012: Two manufacturing units of Ashok Leyland have won the most prestigious National Energy Conservation Awards 2012. The CV manufacturer’s state-of-the-art manufacturing plants in Pantnagar (Uttarakhand) and Alwar (Rajasthan) have bagged the recognition from the Ministry of Power, government of India, for implementing various energy conservation initiatives.
Alok Gupta, plant director, Pantnagar plant and A K Chopra, general manager, Alwar plant, received the awards from the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, in the presence of Jyotiraditya M Scindia, minister of state of power, and other senior officials from the government and industry, recently at a function in New Delhi.
The Pantnagar plant, which went operational in the year 2010, received the second place in the ‘major consumer’ category, followed by the Alwar plant which won the second place in the ‘minor consumer’ category.

Speaking about the awards, Vinod K Dasari, managing director, Ashok Leyland, said: “It is indeed a matter of great pride for us at Ashok Leyland to receive such a prestigious award from the government of India. We have been continuously working on energy efficient processes and follow the best of energy conservation practices across all our manufacturing plants and offices. This award will sure serve as a motivation for the teams to continue their work on more such initiatives.”
