Andrea Pininfarina, chairman of the board and CEO, Pininfarina, died in a road crash in Turin on August 7 while riding his scooter. Pininfarina, 51, was the grandson of the founder of the design house that became synonymous with some of the most iconic automobile body shells throughout the world. Andrea Pininfarina was married to Cristina Maddalena Pellion di Persano. She and their three children survive him. His father, Sergio, is still honorary chairman of the company. Pininfarina recently entered a pact with the India’s Sonalika Group, to provide design and engineering support for ICML’s small car project. Autocar Professional's August 1 issue carried a detailed interview with him, wherein he expressed optimism about working in India and also the positive results from the tie-up with NID.
