Anand Group’s CSR wing and HMSI open first two-wheeler mechanic training centre in Gurgaon
August 16, 2012: Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) and SNS Foundation, the CSR wing of the Anand Group, jointly inaugurated the first Two-Wheeler Mechanic Training Centre at the SNSF centre yesterday. HMSI is the technical/knowledge partner in this initiative.

The training centre, in its first year of operation, aims to train 120 youth annually in six batches as auto mechanics, after which they will be placed in HMSI sales and service centres managed by distributors. These training centres are designed to offer a variety of courses to match the local job market. In designing the courses, all efforts are focused on enhancing employability of young people above 18 years, both men and women.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Kazuhiro Yamamoto, advisor customer service, HMSI, said, “For Honda, service is at the forefront and this initiative, in collaboration with the SNS Foundation, is another step in this direction.”

Deepak Chopra, CEO, Anand Automotive, said: “Partnering is our core value and the SNSF-Honda venture replicates Anand's spirit of partnership. We are proud to have three decades of social contribution by our CSR wing -- SNS Foundation, which has done exceptionally well in the field of creating livelihood opportunities.”

Indira Varadarajan, director, SNSF, added: “Multiple skills training courses conducted under one roof with co-funding support allows for minimising running costs such as rental, imparting common courses such as soft and life skills, financial literacy, spoken English and IT skills. Partnership with the American India Foundation (AIF) has made it possible to ensure appropriate soft-skills training / workplace readiness of the trained youth under AIF's nationwide Market Aligned Skills Training programme.”
