2021 Honda Gold Wing Tour introduced in India at Rs 37.2 lakh

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has introduced its flagship tourer, the 2021 Gold Wing Tour in India, priced at Rs 3,720,342 for the manual transmission variant and Rs 3,916,055 ex-showroom, Gurgaon for the DCT-airbag trim.

The cruiser motorcycle will be brought in from Japan as CBU and sold at HMSI's six BigWing Topline premium outlets in Gurgaon, Mumbai, Bangalore, Indore, Kochi and Hyderabad.

Style and features
The 2021 Gold Wing Tour’s forward-slanting face and compact proportions are its key design highlights. The body line on the side stretches from the front to back, marking a demarcation between the upper and lower halves of the motorcycle.

The double-wishbone front suspension, flat-six engine and exhaust tips add to the functional beauty of the design. The Honda Gold Wing Tour gets all-LED lights with dual-LED fog lamps. The rear-view mirrors has auto-cancelling turn indicators and the 7-inch TFT instrument cluster provides audio, navigation and suspension adjustment information.

It also gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionalities along with Bluetooth support for the rider's mobile phone. There are two USB Type-C ports for mobile phone charging and the pillion also gets a passenger audio control switch to control the audio playback.

From a seating perspective, both rider and pillion get individual seats made of suede or synthetic leather. The backrest on the rear seat can also be relaxed from 16 to 23 degrees. While an extended screen provides wind-blast protection at the front, the rear gets an additional 11-litre capacity for the top box, making the total storage space to 121 litres.

The Gold Wing Tour is built upon a die-cast aluminium twin-beam frame which offers tight packaging for the engine yet optimised structural thickness. It houses a 21-litre fuel tank. The motorcycle also benefits from a Pro-Arm Swingarm that attaches to the frame on its left side, therefore keeping the right side free for maintenance access.

The 2021 Honda Gold Wing Tour comes powered by a 1.8-litre, liquid-cooled, four-stroke, SOHC engine that produces 125hp of power and 170Nm of peak torque. It gets throttle-by-wire and four riding modes - Tour, Sport, Econ and Rain - to modulate the power delivery and suspension damping.

Fuel efficient and high on safety
The engine comes mated to either a six-speed manual transmission with cam damping or a 7-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission (DCT). There is also an integrated starter generator (ISG) on the DCT to enhance fuel efficiency by its idle-start-stop feature as well as reducing mechanical noise on startup.

In terms of safety, the 2021 Honda Gold Wing Tour gets Dual-Combined Brake System (D-CBS), ABS, Honda Selectable Torque Control System and Hill Start Assist (HSA) and rider airbag for the DCT variant.

HMSI has commenced bookings for the 2021 Honda Gold Wing Tour which will be available in Pearl Glare White or Gunmetal Black Metallic-Matte Morion Black dual-tone paint shades.
