100,000th VW rolls off Chakan

Volkswagen India has rolled out its 100,000th car from its manufacturing plant in Chakan, Pune, two years from the start of production in May 2009.

100,000th VW rolls off Chakan

Volkswagen India has rolled out its 100,000th car from its manufacturing plant in Chakan, Pune, two years from the start of production in May 2009. The Pune plant covers all stages in the production process from press shop to body shop and paint shop to final assembly and it has a capacity of 130,000 cars. The plant was built in a record time of 17 months, with an investment commitment of Rs 3800 crores, the largest investment to date by a German company in India. The Chakan plant currently produces the Volkswagen Polo, the Volkswagen Vento and the Skoda Fabia
