The models from the eighth generation of the Passat and Passat Variant series are among the most innovative automobiles in their segment. They also set standards when it comes to quality, comfort, driving fun and, last but not least, design. The dynamic proportions of the vehicles' front end, with air inlets that extend out to the sides, give the new Passat a broad and powerful appearance, while the long lowered bonnet, short overhangs and long wheelbase lend the models a stylish elegance.

The Golf Sportsvan (pictured above) is another example of an attractive and dynamic vehicle. The defining design traits of the model include its very long side window look with two additional windows (in the area of A and D pillars) and its sharply drawn character line. The ‘MPV in the Golf line-up’ offers an extremely variable interior with a longitudinally adjustable rear bench seat. Despite its compact dimensions, the Golf Sportsvan offers ample space for five people plus luggage for long trips.

The Red Dot Design Award is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year; in the field of product design it is recognised as a seal of quality for outstanding design. The award jury is made up of renowned designers, design professors and design journalists from 25 countries, all of whom are experts in their field and completely neutral in their decision-making.
