Soon after the debut of the all-new RX at the New York International Auto Show earlier this month, the turbocharged RX 200t is now Lexus’ main exhibit at the Shanghai International Motor Show which opened today.
Powered by a specially-tuned 2.0-litre inline-4 turbo engine which features VVT-iW (Variable Valve Timing-intelligent Wide) and a low-inertia twin-scroll turbocharger with air-to-liquid intercooler, the RX 200t develops over 228bhp. The company says the gear ratios of the 6-speed automatic transmission enable excellent acceleration off-the-line and exceptional passing power.

This vehicle has been designed for select markets around the world, with one of these being China. The turbocharged 2.0-litre inline-4 has been tuned to achieve high fuel economy and low carbon emissions.
The RX features a new bold look, the front highlighted by completely new fascia with emboldened spindle grille and triple L-shape LED headlamps. The blacked-out C-pillars help provide a floating-roof effect never before seen on a Lexus. The sharpened rear of the vehicle gets new L-shaped taillights.
The new RX’s cabin is aimed at high levels of comfort and luxury, with repositioned trim pieces that exude a high level of class. Rear-seat occupants get increased leg and knee space while a retractable power-operated panorama roof facilitates an open-air driving experience.
On the safety front, the new RX incorporates significant improvements including an upgraded body structure that heightens the overall passive safety of the SUV, as well as the Lexus Safety System +. Options include Adaptive High-beam System (AHS), a Panoramic View Monitor (PVM), and the Blind Spot Monitor (BSM).
