Tata Motors’ global sales decline 5.15 percent in May; JLR shines
Tata Motors has reported an overall sales decline of 5.15 percent in May 2014.
Tata Motors has reported an overall sales decline of 5.15 percent in May 2014. Its sales during the month including Jaguar Land Rover were 77,575 units (May 2013: 81,783). Its global sales in May 2014 were 48,414 units, up 12.2 percent.
Global sales for JLR comprised 38,998 units last month, up 25 percent. While Jaguar sold 6,848 vehicles, down 3 percent (May 2013: 7,061), Land Rover sold 32,150 vehicles, up 33 percent (May 2013: 24,149).
Tata Motors has also taken a hit on the commercial vehicle front. Global sales of all commercial vehicles – Tata, Tata Daewoo and the Tata Hispano Carrocera range – were 29,161 units, down 24.53 percent (May 2013: 38,641).
