Suzuki Motor Corporation has had the world premiere of its new Alivio sedan concept at the Beijing Motor Show (April 21-29). The car, which was showcased as the Ciaz at the 2014 Auto Expo in New Delhi in February, gives cues to a future production model. The car is 4545mm long, 1730mm wide and 1475mm tall.
Suzuki says it plans to produce and sell production models based on the Alivio concept by 2015 at its joint venture in China, Chongqing Changan Suzuki Automobile Co.
The Japanese carmaker has confirmed that the Alivio concept is powered by a 1.5-litre, DOHC, four-cylinder petrol engine mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox. The concept car wears a wide, chrome grille and the large, multi-element wrap-around headlamps look in sync with Suzuki's modern design language. Overall, the concept looks very sporty but its low roof, however, may not make it to production.
According to Suzuki, the Alivio concept’s design has been created using a ‘Sporty and Noble’ theme with the use of smooth, curved surface and sharp character lines.
A production version of this concept car (Codename: YL1) will be introduced in the Indian market soon and will replace the current SX4 sedan.
